Gil Parrondo. The magic of the ephemeral allows privileged access to part of the work and thought of Gil Parrondo and Art Direction in general, through original sketches, drawings, construction plans, photographs, travel logs, film stills, models, videos and explanatory texts that summarise the creative process and aesthetic approaches of one of the most prolific creators in the history of cinema. Parrondo created the atmosphere for more than 230 films, including such renowned works as Orson Welles’ Mister Arkadin (1954), Stanley Kubrick’s Spartacus (1960), Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and David Lean’s Doctor Zhivago (1965).

An exceptional opportunity to travel through the history of cinema accompanied by the unique experience of someone who has been able to live and contemplate in person the development of cinema over the last 75 years. The exhibition, curated by Óscar Sempere – Gil Parrondo’s close collaborator – with the support of Ima Parrondo, the artist’s daughter, shows several original pieces and materials that are not easily accessible to the general public, such as an Oscar and two Goya Awards given to Gil Parrondo, as well as several personal items, his work table and three audiovisuals.
